Baby Brynlee

Well I decided that having a baby was worth making a new post finally. 8 days ago we became parents of a perfect, beautiful baby girl. Next to marrying my husband, it was the best day of my life. I started having contractions Monday, November 29th at dinner time. I kept hearing everyone say to eat some spicy foods and it will help start contractions. I don't think this is medically proven but my mom took me to mexican food, we ordered the spicy salsa and sure enough I felt my first good one during dinner. The contractions kept coming the next two days and were especially bad at night. I didn't sleep Monday or Tuesday night but kept track of the times I felt contractions. Meanwhile we were doing everything possible to get baby Brynlee here. I walked 4 miles on an incline at a fast pace on the the treadmill twice a day, tried to stay standing and enlist gravity's help, and my mom and I even went to the mall in Idaho Falls Tuesday night to Christmas shop, even though I had to stop frequently with a contraction. The next morning we went to the doctor at 9am for an appointment and while waiting I felt 6 contractions. I was determined I was going to have her that day and wasn't taking no for an anwser. Contractions hurt and I hadn't slept more than a few minutes at a time for 2 days! Luckily I was 5 cm and fully ready to have the baby. The doctor sent me to the hospital (of course we stopped for breakfast at McDonalds first :)) I was hooked up to the heart monitor and contraction measurer and pretty soon contractions were off the charts (literally) and coming fast and furious every minute. I made it a few more hours and soon was getting lightheaded from trying to breathe through the contractions so I gave into an epideral. I felt like I was in happy land after that and slept 2 hours until the nurse woke me up, said I was at a ten, and asked if I wanted to push! Heck yes! I pushed for about 15 minutes and soon we had a beautiful baby. The doctors and nurses were amazing and told me to push like I was going to the bathroom. Then Jeremy said "just push like you have to take a major dump!!!" The doctor and everyone in the room started to crack up. Soon we heard her cry Jeremy was able to cut the cord. Baby was just fine, though we were a little worried since she was a meconium baby and the respiratory specialist and NICU people had to be in the room as well. Brynlee Dawn weighed 7 lbs. 4 oz. and was 18.5 inches long. She was born at lucky 7:07 pm on her exact due date December first, 2010. She is extremly healthy, already gaining weight after one week, eats like a little piggy, and had no problems or jaundice. We are so incredibly lucky and feel so blessed to be parents of such a sweet angel. Here are some pics of her first week with us.
